Unfortunately, 10 cents was sometimes the most money I have to my name. New York is great, full of delicious food and fad clothes, but it is not a friend to your wallet. But in my opinion, the best time to be broke is when you’re young and aspiring for your dreams. So I'll take that $2.50 I have left on a Friday and buy a beer for the train ride home and cheers myself for going after my dreams
This is my freedom tool. With all jobs, there are requirements that we need to reach, but when you have time to take a breath, it is important to use it wisely. Whether it was lunch break or free time waiting for markups on projects, I used that time to simply create.
I became all too familiar with this key during my time on internship. I am not perfect and I am still learning in every experience I encounter. Being part of a huge city agency like GREY has allowed me to take on challenges and learn from every opportunity that turns my way. Although making mistakes isn't always seen as a positive, they have allowed me to grow and become the best designer I can be. Although I do wish I could just simply delete a few if those extra donuts I had Monday morning
A temporary new home came along with the big NYC internship. Lucky for me, my sister lives in Long Island, New York and invited me to stay with her. I will admit, it didn’t feel like my life was real for the first week; it was like a legally blonde meets NYC movie. Things got real once we duplicated the keys and the strange apartment became my home. New routines, like walking to and from work, showing my train pass and paying for laundry became daily habits. It
was a flash to what my
future could be like.

I open the large glass doors, swipe my GREY ID card, wait in line, enter the elevator and hit 4.
Grey NY has 4 floors in building 200, located on 25th street and 5th avenue. They organized the floors by the different people that complete the agency. My desk and coworkers were located on the fourth floor; otherwise know as the pharma floor (pharma being short for pharmaceutical design).
Every floor that GREY owns
is full of their Pantone warm
red color and creative people from wall to wall.
